We’re very glad to offer you a new bundle today, on the subject of parenting. And a very amusing set at that, with one piece of lighter and one of dark comedy.
The dark comedy is a great juxtaposition of opinions and styles of parenting by Troy Farah, called Ms. Bijou Ate Her Babies. Troy Farah is a journalist and photographer from Phoenix, Arizona. His writing and criticism has appeared in VICE, LA Weekly, Spillers #3, LitReactor, The Molotov Cocktail, Riddled With Arrows and others. His website is troyfarah.com and he can be found on Twitter @filth_filler.
The second piece, Apricot Iced Tea by Zachary Slingsby, is a lighter comedy about a mother who has planned the perfect outing with her little one, until the unexpected spoils it all. Zachary Slingsby is a graduate of the New School MFA program in New York and now lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and daughter. He has just completed his first novel which he has every confidence will soon be available wherever fine books are sold. An audio version of this story, Apricot Iced Tea, is also available on the July 13th episode of the Second Hand Stories podcast.
Hope you enjoy!
