Today we have a new hand-curated bundle for you! We received two submissions of contemporary pieces that spoke to our sensibilities because like ourselves, both stories had a main character visiting a bar, and we just love a well-used barkeep trope!
The first is Falls the Shadow by Jack Coey, where a man finds a new perspective at a most unlikely watering hole. The author is a person of mystery but purportedly sits on a bench & makes up stories about whatever walks by.
The second piece is Pontificating Apologies by Jim Freeze and is about a journalist who can’t resist returning to a certain watering hole because of the tall tales of one of its inhabitants.
Jim Freeze is seventy-one years old and retired. He has been happily married for fifty-two years and has two grown sons along with two grandchildren. He began writing in early 2012 to have something to do. His short stories have been featured in several publications including Brilliant Flash Fiction, Calliope Magazine and The Original Writer.
Hope you enjoy!
