This week we’re happy to have two contemporary stories on the subject of Choice, which were submitted to us by their authors. Both of these pieces center around a person struggling with their (mental) health and a crossroads decision.
The first is The Choice of a Girl by H.G. Warrender. The story deals with heavy subjects such as alcoholism and depression, and features two main characters; one is a long-time alcoholic, and the other a distraught young woman who has just been dumped by her long-time girlfriend.
H.G. Warrender is a writer living in Upstate New York. She likes shoes, starbucks, and activism. Her poems and short stories have appeared in magazines such as The Copperfield Review and The Scene and Heard Journal. You can visit her online at The Eccentric Author.
The second piece is Body Liquid, Body Down by Elise Demeter, which is a story that deals with the topics of active hostile shootings, injury, healing and LGBTQ+ relationships.
Elise Demeter resides in North Royalton, Ohio, where she is currently enrolled in the Northeast Ohio MFA program through Cleveland State University. She works as both a writing tutor and nursing assistant. Demeter has previously been published through Still: The Journal. She can be found on social media with handle @juiceboxheroh.
Hope you enjoy!
